The Brisbane Club is one of Australia’s premier Private Clubs, known for its tradition in upholding excellence for more than 100 years.

History

Established by a group of friends in commerce, The Brisbane Club obtained its Certificate of Incorporation in March 31, 1903. The Club started with 45 members and was led by Edward D Day, the company’s first president, who at that time, was also the General Manager of the Royal Bank of Queensland.  They used to have two temporary homes before its establishment in Adelaide Street in 1916.

During World War II, the Club offered its facilities available for any function that could help the war movement. In 1949, after the war, the Adelaide Street premises were sold to Queensland Newspapers Limited, who then occupied most of the premises, except the second floor which was leased to the Club. After the sale, however, the Club decided to purchase a run-down property in Edward Street between Elizabeth and Charlotte Streets. Plans were drawn for redevelopment of the site but, unfortunately, did not eventuate. 14 years later, the Club repurchased the property in Adelaide Street when Queensland Newspapers decided to move to Bowen Hills.

Many refurbishments and developments have been made since then, and after 95 years, the Club has remained one of the leading business clubs in the country.

Meetings and Events

The Brisbane Club has six function rooms that cater for all kinds of private meetings, intimate gatherings, board meetings, and corporate luncheons. Their grand Members Dining room has a capacity for serving up to 250 guests, making it a good venue for large corporate functions and other events such as Christmas parties, weddings, and conventions.

To ensure that each event is well organised, they have an in-house Functions Manager who works directly with you to make sure all your needs are met, including an exemplary menu and matching wines to make your event truly a memorable one. Their wine cellars house an extensive selection of premium and coveted wines which will impress even the most selective wine connoisseur.
